I’m honored that you’re considering MKR Photos. One of my favorite parts of my job is getting to know all my wedding couples. I’ll be spending much of your wedding day with both of you, so I love to start by sharing a little about myself, my process, and my work.

Hey hey, I’m Makaila.
I’ve always been an observer. Always noticing the small moments of everyday beauty and interaction around me - a friend’s deep laugh and snort… the morning sunlight hitting the fruit bowl in my kitchen just right at 7:36am, the way certain fabrics billow as they’re caught in a wind… And I’ve always been a sappy nostalgic! Feeling all the feels all the time, whether I want to or not.
I care deeply about my clients and your experience working with me. Many of my clients have become some of my closest friends, and I’ve been lucky enough to document some of their post wedding day milestones like pet adoptions, pregnancy announcements, newborn and family photos.
ABOUT
Weddings have become an incredibly inspiring space for me where I have the privilege of capturing everything from human connection to raw emotions and gorgeous landscapes and details. When I capture weddings, I weave in traditional, documentary, and editorial imagery to tell the full and true story of the day. You’ll hear more guidance from me during formal photos with family and wedding party, and during the ceremony and reception, I tend to orbit around, more “fly on the wall” style.
My ultimate intention is to create images that allow you to relive moments and feelings that outlast the wedding day itself.

WHAT DOES EACH PACKAGE INCLUDE?
HIGH RES & WEB SIZE DOWNLOAD RIGHTS
Your gallery will include one-click download access for both high res and web size images. I guarantee that your gallery link will be live for a minimum of one year (even though I normally leave them up indefinitely). I recommend downloading and backing up your images to multiple “homes” upon receiving them (cloud and physical hard drives). I typically deliver around 1000 images for a full 8 hour wedding day.
COLOR EDITS & BLACK & WHITES
I edit and color correct each photo by hand. I also include black and white edits for select images. Delivered images typically total around 1000 for a full 8 hour wedding day.
WEDDING WELCOME GUIDE
Each booking includes a wedding guide with advice I’ve picked up from 7 years of wedding photography experience and over 150 weddings captured — I’ve seen it all! This includes suggestions to enhance your photography and planning experience. The wedding guide covers sample timelines, engagement session planning and location support, ceremony pro tips, vendor recommendations (Colorado only), family photo mapping, and more.
PRE WEDDING CONSULTATION
Before your wedding, we’ll set up a time to chat through your wedding details, shot list, family photo groupings and more so when wedding day rolls around you can let everything flow naturally, knowing I have all the info (and then some!) to capture your day.
COMMUNICATION + A WEDDING TEAMMATE
I consider myself and expert in all things weddings and am here to support you on the journey leading up to your wedding day. If I don’t have an answer for you, I probably know someone who does. CUSTOM ADDITIONS TO ANY PACKAGE

DISCOUNTED ENGAGEMENT SESSION
ABOUT: Add on a standard (60 minutes) or extended (90 minutes) engagement session. Includes a 30 mile radius from Denver, ≥100 digital images, outfit and location guidance.
WHY COUPLES LOVE IT: yeah, it’s great for save the dates but really I love engagement sessions cause it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other before your wedding day. Plus, it’s basically a practice round for posing and being in front of the camera.
SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER
ABOUT: Two photographers are sometimes better than one! I often capture weddings on my own, but adding on a second photographer is beneficial for different contexts including guest count, timeline planning and location(s). Second photographers are recommended for guest counts over 75 people.
WHY COUPLES LOVE IT: Second photographers give me the super power to be in two places at once and gives my clients the ability to relive one moment from two different perspectives. Seconds can make space for more creative shots (for example, they can get the first kiss from the center of the aisle, while I get an epic aerial shot from a balcony).
REHEARSAL DINNER / WELCOME PARTY COVERAGE
ABOUT: Weddings are more than just a wedding day. Rehearsal dinners and welcome parties are the kick offs to epic wedding celebrations. They often include speeches and special moments greeting your guests embracing them into the fold of a wedding weekend.
WHY COUPLES LOVE IT: Rehearsal dinners are gatherings of loved ones and capturing photos of these moments can be just as special as those captured on wedding days.
SUPER 8 VIDEO
ABOUT: Super 8 is the home video medium of the 1960s. Each roll yields about 2-3 minutes of silent film. It’s captured on vintage cameras on new 8mm film. I outsource a LGBTQ-owned, Colorado-based business to process and scan the film, then I cull and edit a 3-4 minute highlight reel video for you.
WHY I LOVE IT: Don’t get me started… I absolutely adore super 8 as a medium. It’s warm, grainy and brings on instant nostalgia. It’s the perfect complement to your wedding photo album and doesn’t involve the entourage or cost of a full videographer team.
ALBUM DESIGN & PRINTING
ABOUT: Nothing beats having an album printed in front of you, holding it hands and turning the pages. I’ll hand-design your album and print it on thick pages in a leather or linen bound albums.
WHY COUPLES LOVE IT: You will receive a lot of images in your digital gallery. While it’s amazing to have so many memories to look back on, it can be a little overwhelming. By the time I deliver your gallery, I’ve spent hours with all of your images, editing and sorting them. Save yourself the time and energy, and allow me to handle this one through a communicative, feedback-rich process of design and order placement.
NEXT STEPS
STEP ONE: PHONE / VIDEO CALL
We’ll start with setting up a introductory phone or video call to get to know each other better and make sure we’re a good fit. I’ll guide this call with some intentional questions to learn more about your wedding plans. Every couple and wedding is unique, so I will make coverage recommendations based on your vision and plans.
STEP TWO: BOOKING FINALIZATION
After our call, I’ll follow up with a detailed proposal that outlines everything we talked about in our intro call. Once a contract is signed by all parties and a 50% retainer is received, you’re officially booked with me and your date will be reserved on my calendar.
STEP THREE: WEDDING LEADUP
If you opt into an engagement session we’ll begin planning that and I’ll send over a bunch of resources. You can reach out to me at any time with questions or support and I’ll do my best to help or point you in the right direction! 1-2 months before your wedding, you’ll receive a big questionnaire. Once you fill this out, we’ll block out some time to talk through all the details and go over your shot lists.
WEDDING DAY
Wedding day will be here before you know it and that’s when I’m in my element! I’ll be there to guide you when you need it - especially during formal photos - and other times of the day, you’ll hardly notice I’m there.
EDITING & IMAGE DELIVERY
Sneak peeks will be delivered within 7 days. Then I’ll be working on hand-editing your full gallery to be delivered within 6-8 weeks. You’ll receive a gallery link where you can view images and share it with loved ones if you choose.
POST-WEDDING
It doesn’t have to end here! I love to stay in touch with my couples. Many past clients have become some dear friends. It’s incredibly special to me to get updates and even capture future milestones for you two. I’ll also send over special print discounts throughout the year, so keep an eye out for those!
