Disco Floral Festival-Inspired Wedding at Planet Bluegrass in Lyons, CO
ABOUT THE WEDDING
Allison & Greg’s wedding was the music festival-inspired party of their dreams. As frequent concert-goers, live music was a must. They hired a folky string trio for their ceremony and cocktail hour. Then spiced up the reception with an energetic funk band. It was a home-grown, community affair. If you can think of a personal twist, you can bet they incorporated it into their day. Allison’s nieces and nephews each had a role to play in the ceremony processional from ring bearers to flower girls and bubble blowers. Their stunning florals were embellished with pheasant feathers collected by the couple on their hunting trips. The bride handmade dozens of mushroom-shaped disco balls that glittered on their tablescapes. Being a chef, the groom prepped the majority of their wedding food the day before. Allison’s three brothers walked her down the aisle. Fittingly, her fourth brother officiated as he was the one to introduce the couple in the first place.
My personal highlight from the day was their grand entrance. Allison & Greg, along with their wedding party, grooved on into the Wildflower Pavilion backed by a powerful anthem of electric guitar, keys, bass, and drums. They basked in the music, taking in the moment and starting a dance party at the front of the room. It’s a grand entrance that lives rent free in my mind.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Planet Bluegrass is one of my favorite wedding venues on the front range. It’s 25 minutes north of Boulder in the charming town of Lyons, Colorado. It doubles as a music festival venue, and if you’re local you may have seen a show there. This venue offers the perfect combination of indoor and outdoor spaces needed for a wedding in the mountains. On wedding days, it feels like the ultimate haven for marriers and their guests. And the cherry on top is that it’s pet friendly! I have yet to photograph a couple at this venue that didn’t bring at least two dogs.
